Mary earned an M. A. in Scoring for Film & Multimedia from New York University and a B.A. in Music Composition from the University of California, San Diego.
She studied contemporary composition with Chaya Czernowin, Steven Kazuo Takasugi, and Chinary Ung; new music performance with Steven Schick; and modern jazz with Anthony Davis. Mary will begin her Composition D.M.A. at Columbia University in the fall of 2015.
In 2014 she was selected from over 800 young composers around the world to write specifically for the Internationally famous Kronos Quartet.
As one of the Founding Composers at Hotel Elefant she brings an awareness of today's music to the general public through commissions, performances and moderated discussions between composer, performers and audiences. Please Click the Elefant to visit the Hotel.
